JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS:
High school Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a standing or sitting position for prolonged periods.
Ability to work independently
Work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes and various noise levels.
Willing to work a flexible schedule as may be required by seasonal needs.
Ability to handle pieces of grounds equipment such as trimmers, edging machine, snow blowers and misc. hand tools for extended periods of time.
Able to operate zero turn mowers, skid steer loader and mid-sized tractor along with other small utility grounds equipment as needed.
Requires lifting materials weighing up to (seventy) 70 pounds on a routine basis and may be required to lift heavier items on occasion.
Mechanical aptitude for performing routine maintenance checks on equipment is a plus.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Spring
a. Clean parking lots of debris, sand, rocks, trash and other accumulated items.
b. Prepare baseball and softball complex for upcoming season.
c. Prep and paint soccer practice, discuss and shot put lines.
d. Assist with aeration and overseeding of athletic fields and playgrounds.
e. Mow all grass areas on an as needed basis determined by the district.
f. Assist with playground and out building inspections and or repair.
g. Prep and mulch planting beds district wide.

2. Summer
a. Mow and trim all sites on a weekly basis or as determined by the district.
b. Perform mulching of playgrounds as needed.
c. Assist with painting of athletic fields as needed for practice and competition.
d. Monitor water needs of athletic fields along with overall health of turf.
e. Perform routine maintenance checks on grounds equipment.
f. Assist Building Engineers with moving of equipment/supplies around the district.
g. Stripe parking lots and paved playground surfaces as needed.
h. Keep planting beds and gravel areas free of weeds and debris.
I. Assist with any other grounds projects designated by the district.

3. Fall
a. Mow and trim all sites on a weekly basis or as determined by the district.
b. Playground safety checks
c. Prep and groom athletic sports turf for the upcoming fall activities.
d. Paint grass football practice fields.
e. Prep district grounds for winter months.

The showcase will be free and open to the public at the Lisbon Heritage Hall on Sunday, March 30th at 2 PM. The All-State Festival will be held at UNI on Monday, March 31st.

Congratulations to the Mount Vernon Speech Team! Over Spring Break, 41 Individual performers competed at State Contest. Of the 41 students, 31 received Division 1 ratings and 8 students were nominated for All State.

All State nominees are:
Performers: Claire Thuerauf, Michael Covington, Norah Weber, Penelope Vig, Skye Rodman, and Summer Bowie-Smith

Nominated but not performing include Edith Dawson and Summer Bowie-Smith

Sunday, March 30th at 2 PM, all eight of these events will be performed at Heritage Hall above the Lisbon Library. The performance is free and open to the public.

It’s been an incredible two weeks of music making in Mount Vernon!

The Festival of Bands, Orchestra Extravaganza, and Choir All-Sing Concert featured musicians from all three Mount Vernon Schools. MVMS 5th Graders performed their annual musical to a roaring success. The same night, the MVHS jazz band performed at the incredible Voxman Auditorium as a part of KCCK’s Corridor Jazz Project. And don’t forget the pep band traveling to the State basketball tournament and District jazz competitions somewhere in between!
