This past weekend Mount Vernon hosted State Large Group Festival. The festival consisted of 32 events over 14 schools and used both auditoriums in the Middle and High School. Volunteers filled 180 volunteer slots over two days!
And the music! The Mount Vernon Band, Treble Choir, Bass Choir, Mixed Choir and Concert Choir received Division 1 ratings and the Mount Vernon Orchestra Received a Division 2 rating!
Congratulations to our outstanding student musicians and a huge thank you to our team of volunteers, parents, and staff for their hard work!

Congratulations to senior Skye Rodman on being accepted into the Iowa All-State Art Team for her portfolio of drawings and paintings. She will receive a plaque during an awards ceremony next month at the Des Moines Arts Festival. There will be a permanent display featuring a poster of her artwork during the festival. Lastly, her painting titled Pin Cushion will be available for purchase at the MVHS senior art exhibition and sale at Abbe Creek Gallery. The opening reception for the art show will be Thursday, May 8 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm and the artwork will be displayed for two weeks.
